cut out and play (module 1, activity 13)

One of the last tasks for the module is cutting out parts of colour photographs who were made at the beginning of the course. Collages can be created in a playful way by placing earlier made papers behind the cut out "windows".

When they are added to a sketchbook, the collages form a reference guide with colour combinations, textures and designs for use in future quilts.

I drawed some wings and other body parts of a real cicada with a black pigma-pen on a watercolour background to add a touch of reality to the collage. My cicada changes of colour like a chameleon on a two page wide presentation:
